Sesui’s Head of Sales Crowned Overall Winner of Beamish Reliability Run
At Sesui, we are always keen to support our colleagues in doing what they love and so, this year, we were excited to cheer on our Head of Sales, Julian Sammells, and his wife, Jane, who took part in the recent Beamish Safety and Reliability Run.
Now in its 47th year, not only is the Beamish Reliability Run a fun get together for classic car lovers, it’s a true endurance test for their pre-1956 vehicles; this June, Julian entered his 1947 Allard K1, defending his title of ‘Best Post War Car’!
So, what does the Run involve? Well, it’s considered the toughest and oldest event for cars of that age, with a circular course that stretches 150 miles from the locally loved Beamish Open Air Museum and on through the Yorkshire Dales. It wasn’t an easy journey for Julian’s Allard to make, with temperatures soaring as high as 30 degrees Celsius!
Preventing the car from overheating was a struggle, made all the more difficult by some additional engine issues that, at some points, looked like they might prevent the Allard from finishing. Thankfully a fellow car-owner stepped in to help at the lunchtime social stop at Bainbridge, allowing Julian to race to the finish.
Despite the weather and the mechanical faults, Julian and Jane not only completed all 150 miles, but were also awarded overall winner out of all 135 participants. So, huge congratulations to our Head of Sales, and best of luck for future events!
