Sesui sponsors 2016 Jai Memorial Invitational Golf Tournament
James Hookins, Service Manager, recounts the day
A great time was had by all who attended the fourth Jai Memorial Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday (30 July). Myself, our Managing Director, Lee Bryant, and last year’s champ, Nick Foskitt, represented Sesui on the course at Aldenham Golf Club, where we competed against 17 other teams. There were no winners in our midst this year, but it’s the taking part that counts after all, and altogether we were able to raise an impressive amount for a very worthy cause.
Organised by Suresh and Vidya Vaghela of Jai Medical Centre, the golf tournament and evening celebration is an annual charitable event in memory of son, Jai. This year, more than £3,500 was raised for Hearts of Oak – The Oak Lodge School Foundation Trust, a specialist cognition and learning college that is naming a Sensory Room after Jai. Once again, we were delighted to have been invited and offer our support by providing the trophies, golf balls and tees for guests.
The day itself was a brilliant occasion with golfing from midday right through to 7pm. The standard of play was exceptional (some consolation for not having won) and we finished on a respectable score of 83 points compared to the winning team’s 95. After the game, we headed straight to the Club House where awards and speeches were given over dinner. Here, we were joined by more members of the Sesui team, including the newest recruit, Daniel, and Chairman, Riki.
The evening meal topped off another hugely successful and admirable event, attended by around 150 people overall. So, although we didn’t win the golf, we were lucky to leave with some prizes from the raffle – not least a Chelsea F.C. football kit for Lee, our avid Arsenal supporter!
